The Walther Collection

he Walther Collection is an art foundation dedicated to the critical examination of historical and contemporary photography and related media. The Walther Collection’s multifaceted program consists of international exhibitions, the continuous expansion of its collection through targeted new acquisitions, and the reappraisal of its holdings through research and scholarly publications, with the aim of exploring the social meanings and functions of photography and expanding the history of photography.

The Walther Collection presents its extensive collections in its three exhibition venues on the campus in Neu-Ulm, the Project Space in New York City, and international traveling exhibitions. Public lectures and film screenings, international academic symposia, and a series of publications in cooperation with Steidl Verlag complement the art education program.
