Mermaids appear in waters all over the world, including, of course, the Danube, Blau, and Blautopf. Sometimes they want to interact with humans, sometimes they don’t dare. They can be friendly, kind, and caring, but they can also bring ruin upon you. Then they pull people down and never let them go. But one thing is certain: mermaids only exist where there is water, because only where there is water is life possible. Is that why they are so important to us?
This unusual cabaret program is woven from fairy tales, legends, ballads, and songs, sometimes combined with unusual, experimental music. Christa Mayerhofer diligently spins the threads of the narrative. Helga Kölle-Köhler sings songs to the guitar with a crystal-clear siren voice, sometimes accompanied by Reinhard Köhler and his bass ukulele. In addition, Köhler repeatedly illustrates the lyrics with unusual music on strange instruments such as the waterphone.
