Stiege Ulm

Stiege Ulm is an art space that has undergone a very curious transformation. Originally, the site directly on the Danube served as a staircase with a public toilet. The steps built into the city wall lead from Ulm’s old town to the banks of the Danube some 10 meters below. An art project in 2013 created a new public perception of the square and gave rise to the idea of revitalizing the site. Finally, in 2014, a team started operating the Stiege Ulm. The concept is to invite one or more international artists each year to perform on the site and in the public space.
