Sinfonisches Blasorchester Ulm

The Sinfonisches Blasorchester Ulm (SBU) is an independent and autonomous wind orchestra of the highest level, which predominantly plays original works for the instrumentation of a symphonic wind orchestra.
The Ulm Symphonic Wind Orchestra was founded at the end of 1992 – at that time still under the musical direction of Kreso Pascuttini and under the sponsorship of Ulmer Knabenmusik (ukm). The SBU was an opportunity for the departing ukm members to continue playing symphonic wind music at the highest level. However, other enthusiastic musicians from the region were also welcome to join the SBU from the very beginning.
The first public concert took place on May 9, 1993 in Ulm’s Kornhaus – together with the symphonic orchestra of the Ulmer Knabenmusik.
In 1994, the Ulm Symphonic Wind Orchestra became independent and has been a registered non-profit association since 1997.

The internationally renowned and esteemed conductor Douglas Bostock has led the SBU since 1996.
