Concentration Camp Memorial

From 1933 to 1935 Fort Oberer Kuhberg on the outskirts of the city was the location of an early concentration camp in Württemberg. The camp’s purpose was to intimidate and break political and ideological opponents with terror. Today it has become a place of remembrance and learning maintained by the Oberer Kuhberg Documentation Center (DZOK). Visitors can tour the underground prisoners’ accommodation and special detention cells, the rooms of the concentration camp administration as well as a permanent exhibition entitled “”Human dignity is inviolable””.

The archive, library and office of the Oberer Kuhberg Documentation Center (DZOK) are at Büchsengasse 13 (89073 Ulm) in the city center of Ulm.
