Concentration Camp Memorial

From November 1933 to July 1935, Fort Oberer Kuhberg was home to an early Nazi concentration camp in the state of Württemberg, where more than 600 opponents of the regime were imprisoned. The purpose of the camp was to intimidate and break political and ideological opponents through terror. Today, this historic site is home to a memorial that has been largely preserved in terms of its building fabric and grounds and is run by the Oberer Kuhberg Documentation Center (DZOK) e.V. Visitors can view the underground prisoner quarters and special detention cells, the concentration camp administration rooms, and a permanent exhibition entitled “Human dignity is inviolable.”

The archives, library, and offices of the DZOK e.V. are located in downtown Ulm (Büchsengasse 13, 89073 Ulm).
