The motet choir of the Münsterkantorei is the large mixed choir at the Ulm Minster, whose tasks include not only the concertante performances but also the singing in the church services in the cathedral. It is headed by the first organist and cathedral cantor. Oratory works are just as much a part of the work as a cappella literature.
The Motettenchor the Münsterkantorei was founded in 1956 by the cathedral cantor Hans Jakob Haller and directed until 1971. Subsequently, the direction was in the hands of KMD Prof. Edgar Rabsch (1972-1990) and KMD Friedrich Fröschle (1991-2009).
Regular group and individual voice training, rehearsal weekends and concert tours (including in 2011 to Schleswig-Holstein, 2014 to Dresden and Leipzig, 2016 to Austria) complete the profile of the choir.
During rehearsals, the choir is supervised by Annette Küttenbaum, since 2010 he is under the direction of Friedemann Johannes Wieland.
In 2016, the motet choir celebrated its 60th anniversary.
