Mermaids can be found in waters all over the world, including the Danube, Blau and Blautopf. Sometimes they want to get in touch with people, sometimes they don’t dare. They can be friendly, kind and caring, but they can also wreak havoc. Then they drag people down and won’t let them go. But one thing is certain, mermaids only exist where there is water, because life is only possible where there is water. Is that why they are so important to us?
The unusual cabaret program is woven from fairy tales, legends, ballads and songs, sometimes combined with unusual, experimental music. Christa Mayerhofer diligently spins the threads of the narrative. Helga Kölle-Köhler sings songs to the guitar with a crystal-clear siren voice, sometimes accompanied by Reinhard Köhler and his bass ukulele. Köhler also repeatedly illustrates the texts with unusual music on strange instruments such as the waterphone.
